This Quotation Estimate has been prepared in accordance with the academic staffing guidelines of the University of Dar es Salaam and the public sector remuneration framework established by the Government of Tanzania. The purpose of this document is to provide a comprehensive, itemized financial projection for the recruitment, onboarding, and first-year engagement of a qualified University Lecturer in the Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Technology. The University Lecturer position described in this Quotation Estimate encompasses the following academic and administrative responsibilities:
- Delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate lectures in Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, and Construction Management (minimum 18 contact hours per week).
- Supervision of a minimum of six (6) undergraduate final-year project students and two (2) postgraduate research students per academic year.
- Participation in curriculum development, examination setting, and academic committee meetings as required by the University of Dar es Salaam.
- Conduct of applied research aligned with the strategic research priorities of the university, with a target of at least two (2) peer-reviewed publications per annum.

* All figures are subject to a 18% Value Added Tax (VAT) where applicable under Tanzanian tax law. Statutory employee deductions (PAYE, NHIF employee share, TPF employee share) will be withheld from gross salary in accordance with the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) regulations.
Payment for the University Lecturer engagement shall be processed on a monthly basis via electronic bank transfer to the designated account of the appointee, in line with the payroll cycle of the University of Dar es Salaam. The lump-sum items (relocation allowance, equipment allocation, and recruitment costs) shall be disbursed within fourteen (14) calendar days of the lecturer's official commencement date. The research grant and professional development budget shall be released in two equal tranches: 50% at the start of the academic year and 50% upon submission of a mid-year progress report approved by the Head of Department.
- This Quotation Estimate assumes the successful candidate holds a minimum of a Master's degree with at least three (3) years of post-qualification teaching or research experience, or a Doctorate in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Costs associated with international airfare for candidates recruited from outside Tanzania Dar es Salaam are excluded and shall be quoted separately upon request.
- Any overtime, sabbatical leave, or additional consultancy engagements beyond the scope defined in Section 2 shall be subject to a supplementary Quotation Estimate.
- Exchange rate fluctuations, if any portion of the engagement involves foreign currency transactions, shall be settled at the Central Bank of Tanzania's closing rate on the date of payment.
- This Quotation Estimate is valid for a period of ninety (90) days from the date of issue. Beyond this period, all costs are subject to revision based on prevailing economic conditions in Tanzania Dar es Salaam.
- The University of Dar es Salaam reserves the right to adjust the University Lecturer's remuneration in accordance with any new directives issued by the Tanzania Public Service Commission or the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology.
- Acceptance of this Quotation Estimate constitutes agreement to the University's Code of Conduct, Academic Integrity Policy, and Data Protection Regulations as gazetted under Tanzanian law.
- Disputes arising from the interpretation or execution of this Quotation Estimate shall be resolved through the internal grievance mechanism of the University of Dar es Salaam before any external arbitration is sought.
- This document does not constitute a binding employment contract. A formal letter of appointment, signed by the Vice-Chancellor, shall be issued upon successful completion of all recruitment and vetting procedures.
