Santiago’s education system faces systemic challenges, particularly in mathematics proficiency among students from socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds (INE, 2022). While Chilean institutions produce world-class mathematical research, the translation of this knowledge into pedagogical practices remains limited. A key issue is the underutilization of local Mathematician expertise for curriculum development and teacher training. This proposal identifies three interrelated problems: (1) Lack of structured pathways for mathematicians to engage directly with K-12 education in Santiago; (2) Absence of localized, culturally relevant mathematics teaching materials reflecting Chilean contexts; and (3) Limited institutional support mechanisms within Santiago’s universities to facilitate such collaborations.
