During the Edo period (1617\u20131868), there was a conscious revival of medieval armor fashions of which this helmet is an instructive example. This late seventeenth or early eighteenth century helmet was fashioned in the thirteenth-century style. It was certainly made to accompany an armor of medieval yoroi fashion.
