Maps & Locations
Certain sources remember there being a map for this year, but it was more so a graphic and wasn't interactive. [6]
Interview regarding interface:
C: Do you remember anything about the interface of the event? I actually don't know much about how AOL worked back then
C: Like was there any UX or was it genuinely just a single chatroom?
J: I think it was just a sub section of the AOL site. There was the already established Loudhouse chat. I remember there being other pages.
C: What kind of pages?
J: maybe cabins or something? different areas for different things. I know that isn't much help. AOL was weird back then.
C: No this is good. Any information is more than what we currently have on that year haha
J: it was like AOL 2.5 or 3.0
I'm trying to think back to how the interface was
there may have been a message board style part
almost like a bulletin board.
Games & Contests (contests and prizes)
Giving away Virtual Boys and copies of Tetris Attack for the SNES. [3]
Camp Monster contest [4]
J: I seem to remember some points things? NOAAmy silently logged in to the Loudhouse chat one time and I noticed her and said hello. She said something along the lines of "Chicken 45, you've found me! You get some points" or something along those lines. My AOL name was Chicken 45
I also remember there being some kind of design a monster contest
C: Was she hiding or something? Do you think that was part of a contest?
J: Yeah, it was part of a contest for Camp Hyrule I think. You had the ability to sign in to a chat room and not have it announce your arrival. so you had to pay attention to the list of who was in the chat instead of seeing the chat window announce you. she was "hiding" there. the person who "found her" got points or something.
