Letters of Herman H. Kooser, native of Pennsylvania who came to California during the Gold Rush and eventually owned 232 acre farm in the Almaden Township south of San Jose. Letters written to his brother Benjamin relate to personal and financial plans and offer some description of his work and life at New Almaden Mines.
