The DHC Otter was made in Downsview Toronto .The de Havilland Canada DHC-3 Otter is a single-engined, high-wing, propeller-driven, short take-off and landing (STOL) aircraft developed by de Havilland Canada. It was conceived to be capable of performing the same roles as the earlier and highly successful Beaver, but is overall a larger aircraft.

The RCAF used the Otter on a number of Peacekeeping operations -in El Arish Egypt was the most often used example - www.115ATU.ca

The different colour schemes for the RCAF De Havilland Canada Otter aircraft
serving with the United Nations in the Middle East (1957-1967)

The first De Havilland Canada (DHC-3) Otters in RCAF service had an overall aluminum finish with RCAF markings (maple leaf roundels, etc on fuselage and wings)
On 19 January 1957 four RCAF Otters took off from the flight deck of HMCS MAGNIFICENT (docked in the Mediterranean at Port Said) to support The United Nations Emergency Force operations in Egypt. Possibly the only time Otters took off from an aircraft carrier?

These first RCAF Otters in UN service had a colour scheme of an overall aluminum finish with United Nations in red letters on the fuselage and wings. Under the black tail number there was a blue UN world map crest on a square white background. On the wings there were blue UN world map crests on round white backgrounds. The RCAF Fairchild C-119 flying boxcars supporting the UN in Egypt at that time had similar colour schemes and UN markings.

But the RCAF Otters also saw service in New Guinea ,Kashmir - the Otters in the Congo peacekeeping operation were flown by Swedes for the UN
