Photograph of the interior of the Main Street Tavern in Clinton, Illinois, 1940. The Main Street Tavern was located on the Square and was owned by Blanche Gibson. This is one of two photographs that was taken for Fortune Magazine.

Quote from the owner's granddaughter: " This
is my grandmother's tavern, don't remember when she opened it, but she
was in this location until 53 or 54. It was located on the NW corner of
Main and Monroe. I can remember the move. She rented this building and
then had a chance to buy a build
ing and a
house on E. Washington. The house had 3 apartments in it. She then
relocated the tavern and named it the Lone Pine. Bad health forced her
to close in the late 60's. The back of the new location had parking and
faced the old jail. She was never concerned about closing up late
because the jail was just a yell away. In this picture she is in the
center with the white apron on. Her oldest son, Burt Gibson is behind
the bar in the vest."
