The picture of renowned Maithili author Surendra Jha'Suman' (10 October 1910 \u2013 5 March 2002) in his young age. He was
also referred to as 'Sumanji andAcharya Surendra Jha
'Suman' was a renowned Maithili poet, writer,
publisher and editor. He was born in a Ballipur village in Samastipur district
of Mithila in Bihar. He is among Maithili writer who commands enormous respect
and adulation of people and Mithila and outside for his contribution to
Maithili language and literature and pious life style due to which he was often
referred as a man of Rishi tradition. A close friend of former Prime Minister
Atal Bihari Vajpayee and the then Home Minister Lal Krishna Advani he was behin
inclusion of Maithili in 8th schedule of the Constitution. He remained
elected member of Bihar legislative assembly and parliament. When Maithili was
lacking a newspaper he restarted Maithili daily Mithila Mihir.
