Description: I took this photo back in June but held off on uploading it until now. I never would've imagined that casually dropping by the skatepark as a street photographer and photographing this person would have led up to such an action-packed summer—the best in my life thus far.

In street photography, you often drop by neighbourhoods that you're not familiar with, or that you don't live in. I had always done street photography either downtown or in urban areas, never once thinking that my dinky little suburban neighbourhood would have anything remotely interesting for the camera. Oh, how I was wrong.

I've been living here since second grade. Lived here all the way through high school and into my university years. Yet I spent so little time out exploring my own neighbourhood that I was more a stranger than a resident. It took a pandemic that forced me to stay at home that got me to explore my own neighbourhood... and in so many ways, see it for the first time. And... wow, was I missing out.

I would like to sincerely thank @brandonho1999 for the opportunity and the privilege to be able to photograph him—and to get the ball rolling. Thanks to @mitchwu22 for tagging him—without the shoutout, this amazing summer might've never happened for me. And a special thanks to everyone at the skatepark who was kind enough to let me photograph them, and who were patient with me no matter what. To many of you, I seem like a pro, but I'm not—I'm still learning, and photography is really only a hobby for me. I've learned so much this summer and it really put my photography skills to the test.

I look forward to doing this again next year!
