On October 13th, 1977, after its recent raucous launch at Cannes Films Festival in its two original versions, Chinois, encore un effort pour être révolutionnaires (Peking Duck Soup) was released in two Paris theaters (Racine and Gît-le-coeur).

The producers paid for one full-page advertisement in the fashionable-maoist French daily Le Monde \u2014 then on the decline for its idolatry of Ms Mao, Lin Biao, etc. and its (incredible) praise of the bloody Khmers rouges. Later, to edge this shameful past, Le Monde hired Francis Deron (assistant to Viénet for this film, and author of many good books) as its BeiJing correspondent.

This relic has been recently retrieved, and mounted on light Japan paper and calicot cloth before framing. This was an happy moment, by the end of year 2020, as a lot of Viénet archives of the time (including this press clipping) for his films and editions had been stolen in the early nineteen eighties (when Viénet had moved to Asia) by a Ms Quiquemelle who had access to his cellar. The seal for L\u2019Oiseau de Minerve, and another one for the Bibliothèque asiatique series, cut by Ding YanYong, as well as many of his paintings offered to Viénet, were also stolen.
