1 - Ida probably took this.2 - Me and Sam. I don’t remember him with any particularity. Sputnik had died and I’m not sure if it was me or our folks who wanted another dog. I think this was taken at the same time as the first picture. The blue shirt that was under my leg in the previous picture is there on the lawn chair still. And maybe the same torn green shorts.
This is a good shot of the dog door. I’m sure Horace made it. I might have had some hand in it. I don’t remember. He certainly put the dog door in the house on Pickford and Bedford when, for the most part, I was in junior high.
3 - Probably the same day once again. The shrub in front of the gazeboie shed is a lemon tree. As I look at these closely for the first time in a while, I am feeling a fondness for that house. It was modest and nice.
4 - Me and Sam in front of the garage door. I don’t recall what that hole in the door was about.
5 - Me and Zade. He’s on the same lawn chair as is in the previous pictures. I think I’m a little younger in this.
6 - Me and Zade. He’s on the same lawn chair as is in the previous pictures. I think I’m almost the exact same age as in the previous picture.
7 - Handstand with poor form. Almost certainly the same day as the first pics in this series.
8 - Definitely a later date. I have the ankh on my left arm, but no roses yet. This must be late 1967 or early 1968.
I believe that is a washing machine in the background. I remember that little green hand truck our da had.
9 - It is more obvious in this one that I’m roseless. Cute little mustache. It has never been fully gone since at least this picture.
10 - Excellent! About to display another handstand in poor form. Excellent! HA!
11 - On a lawn chair.
12 - Even more clearly the ankh but no roses.
In the background is the moving sprinkler we had. I always thought it was a great little design. Looked like a tractor, and the force of the water shooting from the spinning nozzles motivated the wheels and driving the whole unit forward. I think it took about half an hour for it to go from one end of our backyard to the other. It tracked itself along the path of the hose with the single front wheel. Very cool.
