Download or edit the free picture 360 degree video template (room) for GIMP online editor. It is an image that is valid for other graphic or photo editors in OffiDocs such as Inkscape online and OpenOffice Draw online or LibreOffice online by OffiDocs.

Please
note that the aspect ratio is 16:9, while you might need 2:1!

YouTube is fine with other aspect ratios, but it looks like other services
(including Facebook 360 videos and images) require a width twice as long as the
height. It's easy to fix, just stretch/scale down the template, image or the
finished video to the right dimensions.

I'm leaving it at 16:9 because I learned that it was easier for me to
change/export the exported video than to get my video editing software to
export in a less conventional format.

Also, for Facebook, make sure you don't go over
4096x2048.

You want to make your own 360 degree video, maybe with your own drawings or
even a 2D animation? With this free template, you should be able to make
something of your own. This is a room with a width of 16 units, a length of 16
units and a height of 8 units.

I have published these templates in the Public Domain, which means you can use
it for free, for anything, without having to ask me for permission and with no
restrictions. Also, the test video is in the public domain, feel free to use it
anywhere you like.

Have fun!

Don't know what to do?

Use the images as templates for anything you'd like to use in a 360° video. I
recommend not to change the aspect ratio. Load your drawing or your animation
into a video editor and export the video without any black bars (crop or
stretch the image to the video size). A faster alternative is to open the image
in VLC Media Player and
convert it to MP4.

Before you upload it to YouTube or Facebook, you'll need to inject some
metadata into your video file.

More information here:
support.google.com/youtube/ans…

You can do so by using a program

If it doesn't already do it automatically, only the top checkbox should be
checked after selecting the video file in the program ("My video is
spherical (360)"). Inject the metadata and upload it to a suitable host.
Right now, I know of Facebook and YouTube for videos... and Flickr for equirectangular
images, I think. I haven't actively looked into other services.

Uploading could take a while. But there are options to view it on your computer
to see if everything worked.

You can test the video with VLC Media Player 3.0 and upwards
. After injecting the metadata, playing a 360° video works nicely, as
far as I tested it.

YouTube might take a while to convert a 360° video into its VR form. Also,
uploading anything below 720p is a bad idea because the quality will be really
low.
