Mosfilm ( Russian: \u041c\u043e\u0441\u0444\u0438\u043b\u044c\u043c ) a film studio which is among the largest and oldest in the Russian Federation and in Europe. Its output includes most of the more widely acclaimed Soviet-era films, ranging from works by Andrei Tarkovsky and Sergei Eisenstein (commonly considered the greatest Soviet director), to Red Westerns to the Akira Kurosawa co-production Dersu Uzala (\u0414\u0435\u0440\u0441\u0443 \u0423\u0437\u0430\u043b\u0430) and the epic War and Peace (\u0412\u043e\u0439\u043d\u0430 \u0438 \u041c\u0438\u0440).

The famous Mosfilm logo, representing the monument \u201cWorker and Kolkhoz Woman\u201d by Vera Mukhina and Spasskaya Tower of the Kremlin, was introduced in 1947 in the musical comedy, Spring directed by Grigori Aleksandrov and starring Lyubov Orlova and Nikolai Cherkasov.

After the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Mosfilm continued operations as a quasi-private production company, led by film director Karen Shakhnazarov. The biggest sound stage is leased annually to hold the Golden Eagle Awards.
