These are a few random pictures of Lucky Mud and environs.

- The tall trees in the background are Lombardy poplars. The first time we saw what would become Lucky Mud was in the fall. At the time, the lower portion of the driveway was part of a reciprocal easement. It was overgrown, dark and a little claustrophobic. That first time driving up the steep lower portion of the driveway, we suddenly broke through to a cloudless blue sky. Ahead and slightly to the right were three golden spires, the Lombardy poplars, waving gently in the breeze. I will never forget that sight! It was stunningly beautiful.

- Two of the three poplars. I wonder what happened with the overexposure.

- The tall pyramidal tree is a western red cedar. To the left of the tree you can see the top of Sunrise and Jessica's house with an upstairs light on and smoke coming out of the chimney.

- One of the apple trees in bloom. I believe that fence to the left is Jessica’s garden fence.

- Into the woods behind my proposed house site. I have always particularly liked this little section of our woods.

- Looking south from the edge of LM’s woods. Center left you can see a bit of the chicken coop/kennel. The large evergreen on the right is the large blue spruce on the pasture side of the coral. The shorter deciduous trees to the left of the spruce are apples. About 80 years old when we met them, they continued to produce abundantly, many varieties even then considered heirloom. Some of those same trees continue to fruit even today, nearly 50 years after this picture was taken.

- The central part of the lower pasture. The fence line divides Bob’s place from Lucky Mud. You can see part of the valley (to the right) across the way has been recently clear cut. The portion to the hillside left of the clear cut was covered in young fir. Those fir were harvested around 2010, if I recall correctly.

The pond site is just to the left of what’s shown.

- Susan took this picture of an August, 1974 sunset. The tree on the right is one of three Lombardy poplar on Lucky Mud. The tree in the middle is a douglas fir. I believe the tree far left is an apple.
