Two U.S. Navy sailors are shown with the proto-type of their rank insignia worn in 1886 to 1893 made 300% larger than actual size. Thanks to CWO-4 Lester B. Tucker for these photographs, a good friend and advanced collector of navy rates and yet to be published author of U.S. Navy rates and specialty marks. Chief Tucker also collected and displayed Aviation Pilot Rates for flying enlisted in World War Two, usually Chief Petty Officers.
