Three-ring binder containing music programs and clippings related to Florence Sayler and the King Conservatory of Music.

After graduating from the Conservatory in 1910, pianist Sayler worked as one of the Conservatory's music teachers. She was originally from Pleyto in Monterey County, California, but later resided in San Jose.

The Conservatory was located at 261 North Second Street, San Jose, run by F. Loui King, who also resided in one of the buildings. It was one of the leading cultural and educational institutions in San Jose between 1895 and 1920.

King arrived from Oregon in the early 1890s to direct the University of the Pacific's music department (before it moved out of San Jose). His Conservatory was the rehearsal and concert home of the San Jose Symphony, and the Conservatory's orchestra also performed local concerts. The institution did not survive after King's death in 1914 and later became the meeting place for German-Americans, Germania Hall.

The scrapbook was donated to the San Jose Historical Museum and is part of History San Jose's Music Collection, Catalog Id 1997-215-197.
