Originally a flash game from Disney's Blast, recovered through Wayback Machine CDX finding. You'll never find this on the surface web. Decided not to archive the SWF as it was only a menu screen which led to these. Instructions: Here's what you'll need to create your own puppet show:

Printouts of backgrounds and charactersStandard shoeboxPopsicle sticksGlueScissorsPencilRulerTape (regular or double sided)As with all activities involving scissors, ask your parents for help.

Create the Set:

  1. Remove the cover from the shoebox. You will need this later to store your props and characters.
  2. Place your shoebox on one of its long sides so that you're looking into the box.
  3. Use your ruler to draw a small rectangle, about one inch by eight inches, on the side of the box that's facing upwards.
  4. Carefully use your scissors to cut out the rectangle.
  5. Now draw small lines, as wide as the Popsicle sticks, in different spots on the top of the box.
  6. Use your scissors to cut small slits in the box top where you drew your lines. These should be small and tight enough to hold the Popsicle stick.
  7. Print the background and fold it along the dotted lines.
  8. Use double-sided tape or make tape loops to attach the background to the inside of the box. The large piece should go on the largest wall of the shoebox, and the smaller piece is your puppet support.

Create the Puppets:

  1. Cut out the characters from your printouts.
  2. Use double-sided tape or tape loops to attach the Popsicle sticks to the backs of your characters. Attach the sticks to the center of the characters. The Popsicle sticks should look like they're growing on the characters' heads.

Now, you're ready to play! Slide the characters down through the large slot to move them in the show. Use your Popsicle sticks to move your character from side to side. To pose your characters, move them to the center of the box and put the Popsicle sticks through the small slots.

Have a wonderful puppet show!
