Calls across the Pacific tells the story of Nina Huang who flees the Chinese Cultural Revolution to North America. Years later she travels back to China twice to reunite with her mother as well as friends. She puts herself in dangerous situations, interviewing and recording her contemporaries' life experiences in China. Finally, she escapes from the red terror again.
