Note that the performer was born a year before Chopin died and gave his first concert performance in 1869. The high fidelity sound comes about because, in the 1920's, Mr. De Pachmann recorded Duo-Art piano rolls. The Duo-Art system had the ability to capture all nuances and dynamics of a performance. For this 1967 recording, a 1929 Duo-Art Steinway was used.
