The Dutch Maria van Antwerpen (1719-1781) went through life as a man. She would serve as a soldier in the army three times and married a woman twice. She was exposed twice and Maria was twice sentenced to exile by the court martial.She signed her first three interrogations as a man, but during the fourth interrogation she confessed to being a woman and signed with her real name.
